This is kind of a kitchen sink approach...

You can probably drop XkbRules from the above.

Alternatively, the following should do the same thing:

	XkbRules	xfree86
	XkbModel	macintosh
	XkbLayout	fr_new

...and is even supported by the X server's debconf interface.

Let me know if that works.
