You should rather check for the texlive-base-bin package, as only
this (together with the texlive-base) package gives you a functioning
basic TeX installation.

So you need at least two packages to get a basic TeX Live
installation. So every installation benefits from the inclusion.
At the source of every error which is blamed on the computer you will find
at least two human errors, including the error of blaming it on the computer.
