great tip - thanks for the link.
commenting out the tests for hash::asobject does indeed cause a valid .deb
to come out the other end. i wish the tests worked :)
after fixing that, i was able to apply the same kind of hack to ai::prolog
and get it to build as well.

Hi debian-perl folks,
maybe slightly offtopic, but has anyone on the list tried to package
it seems to depend on Hash::AsObject, which I can't quite get to build
with the standard kit... even after hunting down all of its identifiable
dependencies. it flunks one of its own tests.
You can switch off 'make test' in debian/rules
