The kernel ran to the point where it did not find and root-fs or
probably crashed.

You are not seeing the kernel output - Either because you are running
on serial console and havent set the command line paramter to let the
kernel also go to the serial console. Or you have an unsupported
framebuffer card which the kernel cant use or your kernel lacks
newport console support.
