Thanks, that's much better.

What about CPPFLAGS? (In dpkg 1.16.1.1 the "-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2" flag 
was moved from CFLAGS to CPPFLAGS, and it would be nice if sxiv could be 
compiled with this option.)
