I second that. For my first package I didn't use cdbs was quite a bit of
work to get right. For my second package (python-pyggy) I did use cdbs
and it was a lot easier.
Both packages have been uploaded to Debian Mentor[1], and they can be
apt-get'ed from my private little repository[2].
