I see no reason for repackaging in this case. It is much better to just
delete the upstream debian directory in the unpacked sources and copy
the "debian debian directory" from the old version to its place. After
doing the necessary adjustments, the differences will end up in the
diff.gz, and that is where they belong IMHO.
