Hmmm, I have seen a live demo of this program at the Oshca conference
and got the (personal) impression that it would confuse me if I would
be a user of the program. May be LinuDent could bring in some goods
in this respect.

I don't know which database backend LinuDent uses but in my opinion a
Tcl/Tk (or any other script language) backend as alternative to
PHP could be a good idea for users who do not really like a browser.
Anyway I do not really have enough knowledge to decide what could be
good. I just wanted to bring together people which should be brought
together in my opinion. :)

That's correct and a known fact for the OdontoLinux! programmers.

Fully agreed!
Also for the Debian-Med project it would be much more easy just to package
one system instead of several doing the same. Moreover I have no reasonable
solution in mind how to rewrite the med-dent package once we would have also
LinuDent packaged.
Possibilities:
1. med-dent *depends* from *both*
could be confusing and perhaps lead to errors if data is entered in
both (incompatible) systems.
2. med-dent *suggest* OdontoLinux! *or* LinuxDent
would be fair to both, perhaps could give some recomendations in
the docs, but would not prevent from installing both which is bad
(see 1.)
3. med-dent *suggest* OdontoLinux! *or* LinuxDent but does not allow
the other one to be installed once the selection was done.
This would mean:
Package: med-dent
Depends: odontolinux | linudent
Package: odontolinux
Conflicts: linudent
Package: linudent
Conflicts: odontolinux
The same applies for other kind of management software and we should find
a decision just before we face the real situation.

Especially if we keep in mind that there is an existing but possibly
dead free (well almost, the license is not DFSG compatible) veterinary
software.

For sure! I really do not regard you as a spamer :).

Sounds very good.
Kind regards
Andreas.
