Yeah, I agree with this problem, and it's more a generic problem in
lintian that you're supposed to re-implement algorithms that already
exist elsewhere to get the input / output of those algorithms
checked...

I suggested desktop-file-validate as a "no code duplication, smallest
effort" solution, may be the true solution is to rewrite the code in a
different way?
