acceptable copyright?

This is the copyright I found in a program I'd like to package.
Is it acceptable for 'main' or should I ask for a better copyright?

The copyright itself in the README:

/* +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ */
/* | Copyright 1991, XXXX YYYYYYY.                                     | */
/* | Permission to use, copy, modify, and distribute this software | */
/* | and its documentation for any purpose and without fee is hereby | */
/* | granted, provided that the above copyright notice appear in all | */
/* | copies and that both that copyright notice and this permission | */
/* | notice appear in supporting documentation. This software is | */
/* | provided "as is" without express or implied warranty. | */
/* +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ */

        Ditto for my contributions which are Copyright (C) 1995, 1997 by
        AAAAA BBB. (UUUU@example.com)

        And again for contributions by me, DDDD EEEE, Copyright (C) 2002-2004.
