Well, there is currently a sub-optimal fork in the MySQL client libs, because of the lack of licensing clarity. Linking against GNUTLS would make libmysqlclient GPL-compatible, but wouldn't meet the needs of any GPL-incompatible packages in the archive (there are several; they all link against libmysqlclient10 today). Linking against GNUTLS is certainly an improvement over the status quo, at least, since the well-publicized GPLing of the library would make it completely non-distributable when linked against OpenSSL. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
