The bigger problem I found 'till now is that console switching from X
(via Alt+FnX) does not work correctly making the laptop unusable
(probably because the patch also prevents video mode reinit thus
trashing the screen).

Last but not least, if none of those solutions work your only choice is
to wait touchpad detection before plugging you usb mouse in.
