If you're installing Woody, you may want to try the new Debian Installer and
install Sarge instead.
Debian Installer is available from [1]. Try the link to the Ports Status Page.
I'd advice the daily builds as they are very close to the release of the first
Release Candidate.
I recently had a very successful install on a Satellite A40, but I'm guessing
your machine is an older model.
