Well, François, Keeling and Yves are names and should always
be capitalised (just like Canada, Mars and Microsoft).
"French" should be capitalised as well, just like "German,"
"English," "American," because in English, all adjectives
that are derived from a country name or nationality are
capitalised--politics don't come into play. I am not sure
about the status of Martians, but I'd capitalise as well.
The only exception to that rule I'm aware of is french
fries, which aren't capitalised, probably because they
really come from Belgium, and french toasts, which the
French have no idea what it is.
François got it wrong because in French, you don't
capitalise adjectives ("L'éditeur français parle aussi
allemand." -- "The French editor also speaks German.").
Well isn't Sunday an interesting day.
