Re: Modem on a Tecra 8100?
Since I asked so many questions, here are the results...
1. Yes, with the 2.2.12 kernel I could get the Tecra 8100
builtin modem to work with the Lucent binary driver. But I
read of rumours that it was a bit flakey and with no ability
to recompile or move to a later kernel...
2. I went out and bought a Lynksys Etherfast 10/100+56K Modem PC
Card (PCMLM56). The ethernet worked w/o a hitch, but I could not
get the modem to work. So...
3. I returned that and bought a simple modem card, a Hayes PC Card
Faxmodem. It worked like a charm the first time I rebooted.
Ok, now my new problem. Does anyone know how to configure pppd
so that I can login "by hand" rather than through a chat script?
(On windows there's a "show terminal" box or something.) I have
to do it this way because in order to get through the firewall,
I have to respond correctly to a tokencard challenge.
Be seeing you,
