I have a Dell Inspiron 4000, running the sawfish window manager. Here this works: $ xmodmap -e "keycode 129 = ISO_Lock" You may want to put that in .xsession. and in the sawfish window manager add a shortcut for ISO_Lock to run the command "xscreensaver-command -lock". Result: Pressing that key locks the screen. Now if only I could move that key further away from the power button... PS: I'm not sure that's the correct usage of the ISO_Lock; it's probably intended to do something along the lines of capslock or numlock. But it works for me... -- Karl E.
