<p>
Adam D. Barrat a publié
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/09/msg00002.html";>quelques
nouvelles de l'équipe de publication</a>. Le créneau pour de nouvelles 
transitions s'est fermé le 5 septembre. Les transitions en cours doivent être
terminées dès que possible. La revue des architectures s'est achevée
mi-septembre, et la liste actuelle des architectures agrées pour Jessie
comprend amd64, armel et armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64 et kfreebsd-i386, mips,
mipsel, powerpc et s390x. La décision finale pour le portage de kFreeBSD, pour
lequel les moyens humains sont un problème, et les portages d'arm64 et
ppc64el, qui ont beaucoup progressé et bénéficient d'un fort soutien, est
attendue au tout début de novembre.
Le gel de Jessie est programmé pour le 5 novembre. Afin d'avoir leurs paquets
inclus dans Jessie avant le gel, les responsables de paquets doivent prendre en
compte le fait que, à partir du 5 octobre, le délai de migrations de tous les
paquets envoyés à instable pour faire partie de Jessie sera de 10 jours.

La réunion annuelle des développeurs Debian s'est tenue cette année à
Portland, Oregon, du 23 au 31 août 2014. Les participants à <a href="http://debconf14.debconf.org/";>DebConf14</q>
ont pris part à des conférences, des discussions, des ateliers et des séances
de programmation. Les équipes vidéo ont filmé beaucoup des principales
conférences et discussions à la fois pour une diffusion en direct pour des
participants interactifs et pour les <a href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/";>
archives vidéo de debian</a>. Entre vidéos, présentations et documents,
la couverture a été assurée par les participants dans leurs blogs, leurs
messages et les nouvelles du projet et nous en avons réuni l'essentiel à votre

Les dates de <a href="http://debconf15.debconf.org";>DebConf15</a> sont fixées : la réunion aura lieu du 15 au 22 août
2015 à Heidelberg. Les membres du public sont invités au week-end d'ouverture
où toute une série de contenus et d'événements seront proposés. La DebConf sera
précédée par un DebCamp.

L'équipe de DebConf15 a présenté ses projets pour la réunion dans une session
de DebConf14 (regardez <a

vidéo</a>), et a fourni un résumé opérationnel pendant la cérémonie de clôture

annoncé</a> qu'elle était en train de contacter des parrains potentiels dans le
monde entier avec

brochure</a> qui résume ce qu'est DebConf et les bénéfices que l'on peut tirer
à la parrainer. Si vous pensez à des organismes qui pourraient être

<p>
Un certain nombre de billets de blog intéressants sur le chiffrement ont été
publiés récemment dans la communauté Debian. Simon Josefsson prend partie sur
son blog
<a href="http://blog.josefsson.org/2014/08/26/the-case-for-short-openpgp-key-validity-periods/";> pour de courtes durées de validité des clés OpenPGP</a>.
Bernhard R. Link envoie <a href="http://blog.brlink.eu/index.html#i68";>son point de vue sur les cas
où des dates d'expirations pour les clés de chiffrement sont utiles, là où ça
ne l'est pas</a>.
Gunnar Wolf <a href="http://gwolf.org/node/3950";>résume sur son blog</a>
une série de discussions sur le chiffrement qui ont eu lieu pendant DebConf14.
En tant que responsable du trousseau de Debian, il a produit avec
Daniel Kahn Gillmor et Jonathan McDowell une présentation à la DebConf sur
l'état du trousseau de clés OpenPGP de Debian, à partir duquel il a été
décidé <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/08/msg00015.html";>de supprimer du trousseau de Debian
les clés d'une longueur inférieure à 2048 bits à la fin de l'année</a>.
Gunnar a posté sur son blog un mois après cette présentation <a
href="http://gwolf.org/node/3951";>quelques beaux graphiques sur l'évolution du
trousseau de clé de Debian. Entre temps, Clint Adams
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2014/09/msg00137.html";>a envoyé
quelques statistiques la connectivité dans le trousseau Debian</a>, avant et après
la séance de signature de clés de DebConf14.

<toc-add-entry name="LTS-Reports">Compte-rendu sur LTS </toc-add-entry>

<p>
L'offre de Freexian de collecter des fonds de plusieurs sociétés pour parrainer
le travail de plusieurs développeurs sur <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/LTS";>la prise
en charge à long terme (<q>Long Term Support</q> - LTS) de Debian</a>
avait aussi besoin de contributeurs salariés pour fournir un comte-rendu public
mensuel du travail rémunéré. En juillet et en août de cette année, Freexian a
parrainé <a href="http://layer-acht.org/thinking/blog/20140819-lts-july-2014/";>Holger Levsen</a> et
<a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/07/my-debian-activities-in-july-2014/";>Thorsten
Akteholz</a> et ils ont tous deux rendu compte de l'avancement 
de leurs travaux du mois de juillet. Alors que Freexian n'a pas atteint son objectif minimal
de financer l'équivalent d'un poste à mi-temps ce qui transparaît dans les
résultats, le programme a tiré quelques enseignements : les contributeurs payés
ont géré près de 70% des mises à jour et compter seulement sur des volontaires
n'aurait pas marché. Il est aussi utile de souligner que très peu de sociétés
qui avaient promis leur aide ne se sont pas encore acquitté de leur aide,
néanmoins, cela ne doit pas nous faire oublier que ce projet n'existerait pas
sans le soutien de plusieurs sociétés et organismes qui ont répondu à l'appel.
</p>

<p>
Raphaël Hertzog a envoyé <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/09/02/my-free-software-activities-in-august-2014/";>les nouvelles du mois d'août</a> de ses
activités sur les logiciels libres. Distro Tracker est compatible avec Python 3
avec toute la batterie de test passée avec succès avec Python 3.4 et
Django 1.6. De <a href="https://tracker.debian.org/docs/contributing.html";>l'aide</a> est toujours
nécesssaire. 
Des correctifs ont été appliqué à Django 1.7 pour
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755651";>horizon</a>,
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755607";>django-restricted-resource</a> et
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755661";>django-testscenarios</a>.
Raphaël a pu aussi contribuer à la traduction française de Dpkg.
</p>

<p>
Thorsten Alteholz a envoyé des<a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/08/my-debian-activities-in-august-2014/";>nouvelles du mois d'août</a>
sur son travail actuel avec l'équipe FTP, acceptant plus de 237 paquets, et sur quelques
travaux sur Squeeze LTS avec de nouvelles versions de mise à jour de sécurité
pour plusieurs paquets.

<toc-add-entry name="Cinnamon">L'environnement Cinnamon maintenant disponible dans testing</toc-add-entry>

<p>Margarita Manterola <ahref="https://lists.debian.org/CAP+fKSoksg-ZfQvUryx7fn9EF6OnpE-EW4FyUjMFcDau9T1kPg@mail.gmail.com";>a annoncé</a>
que l'environnement Cinnamon est maintenant disponible dans testing. Elle donne
les instructions pour installer les paquets et remarque qu'il reste des bogues
à découvrir, et donc que les rapports de bogue sont les bienvenus. Vos
contributions à travers le projet pkg-cinnamon dans alioth sont aussi
encouragés.</p>

Samedi 16 août, des fêtes ont eu lieu <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDay/2014";>tout autour du monde </a>
pour célébrer les <a href="https://bits.debian.org/2014/08/21-birthday-debian.html";>21 ans</a> de notre système d'exploitation adoré ! 
La <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDay";>journée annuelle Debian</a> 
a réuni des fêtes en réseau, des chasses aux bogues , et bien sûr des gâteaux !

Juliana Louback, dans un billet sur son blogue, donne des nouvelles sur l'état
de <a href="http://julianalouback.com/tech/2014/08/14/jscommunicator-2.0-is-live/";>JSCommunicator</a> 
qui fait partie du Google Summer of Code de 2014. JSCommunicator est un outil
de communication SIP développé en HTML et en JavaScript. Le code a été conçu
pour rendre son intégration à un site ou à une application internet aussi
simple que possible. Les utilisateurs peuvent jeter un Å?il sur la <a href="https://rtc.debian.org/";>démonstration en direct ici</a>.

<p>
Matthias Klumpp donne dans un billet de son blog <a href="http://blog.tenstral.net/2014/08/appstreamdep-11-debian-progress.html";>des nouvelles
de l'implémentation pour Debian d'AppStream</a>, de <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DEP-11";>DEP-11</a>,
et du travail de son stagiaire du GSOC, Abhishek Bhattacharjee sur <a href="http://abhi11.github.io/jekyll/update/2014/08/15/DEP-11-Metadata-Generator/";>le
le générateur de DEP-11</a>
qui va chercher des méta-données de multiples sources et les convertit en YAML
pour augmenter les possibilités d'un « centre logiciel ». Le générateur fera
partie du Debian Archive Kit utilisé pour gérer les archives Debian sur les
serveurs ftp.

<toc-add-entry name="Clang3.5.0">Reconstruire Debian avec Clang</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Sylvestre Ledru nous donne des nouvelles de la <a
href="http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/2014/09/11/rebuild-of-debian-using-clang-3-5";>Reconstruction de Debian avec Clang</a>. Clang 3.5.0 a été 
publié. La nouvelle version a vu une <a href="http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/media/blogs/sylvestre/evolution-clang-sept-2014.png?mtime=1410087335";>baisse marquée</a> des échecs de construction 
qui passent de 2 040 paquets soit 9,5 % à 1 261 paquets soit 5,7 %. Les corrections de l'amont ont commencé
par les bogues tels que <a href="http://clang.debian.net/status.php?version=3.5.0&key=CONFLICTING_TYPE";>types en conflit</a> et <a
href="http://clang.debian.net/status.php?version=3.5.0&key=DEFAULT_CONSTRUCTOR";>modifications
du constructeur par défaut</a>, 
puis se sont orientés vers une approche parallèle différente en se focalisant sur l'amélioration de la compatibilité de GCC 
avec une catégorie d'avertissements plutôt que d'erreurs.

Wookey a envoyé un

détaillé</a> de la réunion de travail bootstrap/crossbuild, qui s'est tenue à
Paris, mi-août. Dans ce compte-rendu, il présente divers problèmes avec le
début de la phase d'amorçage, une discussion sur des archives partielles pour
différentes <acronym title="instruction set architecture">ISA</acronym>, l'état
des efforts pour obtenir une compilation croisée dans Jessie, la gestion de la
compilation croisée dans les paquets source, l'amorçage et l'assurance de
qualité dans les constructions croisées, les profils de construction et les
outils

Lior Kaplan a écrit un article sur

et l'amont</a>, montrant l'exemple de la maintenance de PHP dans Debian et tous les effets positifs qu'elle a eu sur la qualité de la publication amont de la
version 5.6.0.

<p>
Adam D. Barrat published
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/09/msg00002.html";>some
release team news</a>. The window for new transitions closed on September
5, and ongoing transitions should be completed as quickly as possible. The final
architecture check was completed in mid-September, and the current agreed list
of architectures for Jessie is amd64, armel and armhf, i386,
kfreebsd-amd64 and kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc and s390x. The final
decision for kFreeBSD ports, for which human resources is a concern, and arm64
and ppc64el ports, which made good progress and have strong support, is expected
in the very beginning of November.
The freeze for Jessie is scheduled for November 5. In order to get their
packages into Jessie before the freeze, maintainers of packages should take into
account the fact that starting from October 5, the migration delay for all
packages uploaded to unstable to enter Jessie will be 10 days. 
</p>

<toc-add-entry name="DebConf14">DebConf14: Talks, thoughts, comments and progress</toc-add-entry>

<p>
The annual Debian developer meeting took place in Portland, Oregon, 23 to 31
August 2014. <a href="http://debconf14.debconf.org/";>DebConf14</a> attendees
participated in talks, discussions, workshops and programming sessions. Video
teams captured a lot of the main talks and discussions for streaming for
interactive attendees and for the <a
href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/";>Debian video
archive</a>. Between the video, presentations, and handouts the coverage came
from the attendees in blogs, posts, and project updates of which a few
have been gathered for your reading over on the <a
href="http://blog.debconf.org/blog/debconf14/wrap-up.dc";>DebConf blog</a>.

<toc-add-entry name="DebConf15-announced">DebConf15 dates are set, come and join us!</toc-add-entry>

<p>
The dates for <a href="http://debconf15.debconf.org";>DebConf15</a> are set:
the conference will take place from 15 to 22 August 2015 in Heidelberg.
Members of the public are invited to the Opening Weekend, where a wide range
of content and events will be offered. DebConf will also be preceded by
DebCamp.
</p>

The DebConf15 team presented their conference plans in a full session at
DebConf14 (watch <a
href="http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2014/debconf14/webm/DebConf15_in_Heidelberg.webm";>the

<toc-add-entry name="openpgp">Discussions about OpenPGP</toc-add-entry>

<p>
A certain number of interesting blog posts about cryptography were published
recently in the Debian community. Simon Josefsson advocated
on his blog
<a href="http://blog.josefsson.org/2014/08/26/the-case-for-short-openpgp-key-validity-periods/";>the
case for short OpenPGP key validity periods</a>.
Bernhard R. Link posted <a href="http://blog.brlink.eu/index.html#i68";>his
point of view about where expiry dates for cryptographic keys are useful, and where
they are not</a>.
Gunnar Wolf <a href="http://gwolf.org/node/3950";>summarised on his blog</a>
several cryptography-related discussions which occurred during
DebConf14. As a Debian keyring maintainer, he gave a presentation at DebConf together with
Daniel Kahn Gillmor and Jonathan McDowell
about the status of the Debian OpenPGP keyring, after which it was decided to  
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/08/msg00015.html";>remove
keys shorter than 2048 bits from the Debian keyring by the end of the year</a>.
One month after this presentation, Gunnar posted on his blog <a
href="http://gwolf.org/node/3951";>some nice graphs</a> about the evolution of the
Debian keyring. In the meantime, Clint Adams
<a
href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2014/09/msg00137.html";>presented
some statistics about connectivity in the Debian keyring</a>, before and after
the DebConf14 key signing party.
</p>

<toc-add-entry name="LTS-Reports">Long Term Support (LTS) Reports</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Freexian's offer to bring together funding from multiple companies in order to 
sponsor the work of multiple developers on <a
href="https://wiki.debian.org/LTS";>Debian LTS</a> also required
paid contributors to provide a public monthly report of their paid work.
In July and August of this year Freexian sponsored 
<a href="http://layer-acht.org/thinking/blog/20140819-lts-july-2014/";>Holger Levsen</a> and
<a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/07/my-debian-activities-in-july-2014/";>Thorsten
Akteholz</a>, who have both reported on their progress in July.
While Freexian has not reached its minimal goal of 
funding the equivalent of a half-time position which is reflected in the results, the 
program has learned a few things such as that paid contributors handle almost 70%
of the updates, and counting only on volunteers would not have worked. It is
also worthy of note that quite a few companies that promised help have 
not delivered on the promised help yet, though that should not distract from 
the fact that this project wouldnâ??t exist without the support of multiple 
companies and organisations who did step up. 
</p>

<p>
Raphael Hertzog posted an <a
href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/09/02/my-free-software-activities-in-august-2014/";>August
update</a> on his Free Software Activities.
Distro Tracker has Python 3 compatibility, and the full test suite passes with Python 3.4
and Djando 1.6. <a href="https://tracker.debian.org/docs/contributing.html";>Help</a>
is still needed. Django 1.7 had patches applied for  
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755651";>horizon</a>,
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755607";>django-restricted-resource</a>
and <a href="https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755661";>django-testscenarios</a>.
Raphael was also able to contribute towards the French translation for Dpkg.
</p>

<p>
Thorsten Alteholz posted an <a
href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/08/my-debian-activities-in-august-2014/";>August
update</a> on his current work on the FTP team, where he accepted over 237
packages, and on Squeeze LTS, with new security updates for several packages. 
</p>

<toc-add-entry name="Cinnamon">Cinnamon environment now available in testing</toc-add-entry>

<p>Margarita Manterola <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/CAP+fKSoksg-ZfQvUryx7fn9EF6OnpE-EW4FyUjMFcDau9T1kPg@mail.gmail.com";>announced</a>
that the Cinnamon environment is now available in testing. She gave instructions
for installing the packages, noting that there still are bugs that they
haven't found yet, so bug reports are welcomed. Contributions via the
pkg-cinnamon project on alioth are also encouraged.</p>

<p>
On Saturday, August 16, Celebrations were held <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDay/2014";>around the world</a>
as our beloved Operating System turned <a href="https://bits.debian.org/2014/08/21-birthday-debian.html";>21 years old!</a>
The annual <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDay";>Debian Day</a>
gatherings hosted LAN parties, bug squashing, and of course cake!
</p>

<toc-add-entry name="GSOC">Google Summer of Code</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Juliana Louback, via blog post, updated the status of <a href="http://julianalouback.com/tech/2014/08/14/jscommunicator-2.0-is-live/";>JSCommunicator</a> 
which was part of Google's Summer of Code 2014. JSCommunicator is a SIP 
communication tool developed in HTML and JavaScript. The code was designed 
to make integration with a website or web app as simple as possible. Users 
may check out the <a href="https://rtc.debian.org/";>live demo here</a>.
</p>

<p>
Matthias Klumpp shared via blog post an <a href="http://blog.tenstral.net/2014/08/appstreamdep-11-debian-progress.html";>update to the Debian implementation of 
AppStream</a>, <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DEP-11";>DEP-11</a>, and the 
work of his GSOC intern Abhishek Bhattacharjee's <a href="http://abhi11.github.io/jekyll/update/2014/08/15/DEP-11-Metadata-Generator/";>DEP-11 generator</a>
which pulls metadata from multiple sources and converts them into YAML, working towards
the larger possibility of a <q>software centre</q>. The generator will be a part of
the Debian Archive Kit used to manage Debian archives on the FTP servers.

<p>
Sylvestre Ledru blogged about an updated <a
href="http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/2014/09/11/rebuild-of-debian-using-clang-3-5";>rebuild
of Debian using Clang</a>. Clang 3.5.0 has been released, and has seen a <a
href="http://sylvestre.ledru.info/blog/media/blogs/sylvestre/evolution-clang-sept-2014.png?mtime=1410087335";>marked
decrease</a> in build failures  
from 2,040 packages (9.5%) to 1,261 (5.7%). Upstream fixes started
with bugs such as <a
href="http://clang.debian.net/status.php?version=3.5.0&key=CONFLICTING_TYPE";>conflicting
types</a> and <a
href="http://clang.debian.net/status.php?version=3.5.0&key=DEFAULT_CONSTRUCTOR";>changes
of the default constructor</a>,
then moved to a different parallel approach of focusing on improving GCC 
compatibility with a warning category instead of errors.

about <a href="http://softwarefreedomday.org/";>Software Freedom Day</a> with information on Debian
Derivatives, F-Droid, Jabber/XMPP, and the upcoming DebConf15.
</p>

<p>
Wookey sent a
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/08/msg00013.html";>detailed
report</a> of the bootstrap/crossbuild sprint, which took place in Paris, in mid-August.
In this report, he presents various problems with early bootstrapping,
a discussion of partial archives for different <acronym title="instruction set
architecture">ISA</acronym>s, the state of the effort to get cross-compilers into
Jessie, cross compile support in source packages, bootstrap and crossbuild
quality insurance, build profiles, and the tools
<a href="https://wiki.debian.org/HelmutGrohne/rebootstrap";>rebootstrap</a> and
<a href="https://gitorious.org/debian-bootstrap/botch";>botch</a>.

<p>
Lior Kaplan wrote an article about
<a href="http://liorkaplan.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/the-importance-of-close-integration-between-distribution-and-upstream/";>the
importance of close integration between distribution and upstream</a>, using
as an example the maintenance of PHP in Debian and how it had a positive effect
on the quality of the upstream release of the 5.6.0 version.
