Hi,

i'm experiencing serious problems with the latest squeeze kernel and e1000 
network card. All seems to be fine until i do *not* enable vlan interfaces.

If i add one vlan interface, the kernel panics. The output below is from a machine
with several vlan interfaces enabled in /etc/network/interfaces. All interfaces just
set up like this:

iface eth1.3 inet manual
     vlan-raw-device eth1
     up /sbin/ifconfig eth1.3 up

The machine panics on boot and loops in reboot / panic forever. Output of
kernel message see below.

Hardware is an ALLNET FW8888 Box with 2 82541GI Gigabit Ethernet (these
are driven by e1000 module) and 3 82574L Gigabit Network Interfaces (these are 
driven by e1000e). All are onboard. I have 3 of these boxes, all 3 have 
the same problem.

Problem is definitively the 82541GI Interface driven by e1000 module.

If i configure one of the e1000e interfaces with "vconfig add . and . ifconfig up"
there is no problem. If i do this with one of the e1000 interfaces the kernel
panics.

I also tried the latest e1000 module source (version 8.0.19-NAPI) from intel.com 
with exactly no change. Its the same problem.

I have a debian lenny running on the same hardware box. There i had no (but other)
problems with 2.6.26. So i upgraded to backports.org  kernel 2.6.32.
Since then i have regular kernel panics with 2.6.32-bpo.3-686 and 2.6.32-bpo.3-686,
sometimes just seems the network card to freeze. Everything works, link is up, but
no traffic passes through. With versions 2.6.32-bpo.4-686  and 2.6.32-bpo.5-686 i 
get the panic immediately after reboot like now on squeeze.
