Package: linux-image-2.6.26-2-vserver-686-bigmem Version: 2.6.26-15lenny2 Severity: important System is a Dell R610 with 16GB of RAM but only the first 3.2GB is currently being detected. This is using a bigmem kernel so should expect to see all 16GB. Not quite sure where to start looking into this but a colleague suspects that it may be related to some E820 patches made by Paul Jackson in May 2008. Commit refs in linux-2.6 git tree are: c3965bd15118742d72b4bc1a290d37b3f081eb98 028b785888c523baccdf27af0cdbf1deb92edec0 6e9bcc796b120d17b08dde7ab958b82ddb899889 5b7eb2e9ef4e467a1248537b47a63bab265be3cc 69c9189320c46b14e5ae3ad4b3a0d35cc63cba20 with a later bug fix in commit: 1b72691ce35812ff865d778f303779e774d2b098 I haven't had a chance to try building this patch into the kernel yet to see if this resolves the issue. I've also tried using a standard bigmem kernel (no vserver) and the same problem is reported. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.26-2-vserver-686-bigmem (Debian 2.6.26-15lenny2) (dannf@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080704 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-25)) #1 SMP Mon May 11 21:25:01 UTC 2009 ** Command line: root=/dev/mapper/vg0-root ro ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 57.137973] raid6: sse2x1 6599 MB/s [ 57.206017] raid6: sse2x2 7757 MB/s [ 57.206017] raid6: using algorithm sse2x2 (7757 MB/s) [ 57.206017] md: raid6 personality registered for level 6 [ 57.206017] md: raid5 personality registered for level 5 [ 57.206017] md: raid4 personality registered for level 4 [ 57.213883] md: md0 stopped.
