With linux-image-2.6.28-1-amd64_2.6.28-2~snapshot.12964, things are even
worse: Emacs this time not only produced an oops (attached), but
directly crashed.

I am now compiling vanilla 2.6.28.7, also to test the thermal error I
experience with both 2.6.26-14~snapshot.12720 and the above one [1].  I
will report the result of my tests.
