Package: udev
Version: 0.093-1
Severity: important
*** Please type your report below this line ***
udev does not load mousedev when an logitech wireless mouse combo is
attached to the computer. It only creates the following devices
/dev/input/event0
/dev/input/event1
/dev/input/event2
and symlinks
/dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_USB_Receiver-event-kbd -> ../event0
/dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_USB_Receiver-event-mouse -> ../event1
/dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:00:1d.0-usb-0:1:1.0-event-kbd -> ../event0
/dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:00:1d.0-usb-0:1:1.1-event-mouse -> ../event1
If I load mousedev by hand the devices
/dev/input/mice
/dev/input/mouse0
/dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_USB_Receiver-mouse -> ../mouse0
/dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:00:1d.0-usb-0:1:1.1-mouse -> ../mouse0
are created.
Interestingly if I plugg in an other PS/II mouse after later,
mousedev is loaded as well and now also the USB mouse works.
Of course adding mousedev to /etc/modules helps, but this is very
user unfriendly. It leaves the (newbie)user without a working X,
because a very common keyboard/mouse compo is not supported
automaticaly. Thats why I choose important for this bug.
Thanks
Hendrik Naumann
PS. Attached are the udevmovitor and syslog entries for the hardware.
