The firewire drive was working fine after I installed the 'testing'
distro, but I think udev updated when I told the Software Update tool
that was running indicated that some newer packages were available.
After that, I could not longer mount my firewire drives.
It was like something in udev wasn't recognizing the devices to make the
node.
I worked around this by plugging my drive into the USB port...so I at
least have access to my firewire/usb drive.
