I know for sure that the default command line is not needed for
PowerMacs, as one can use a bootloader or Open Firmware to set the
command line. I suspect that it's not needed for CHRP machines
As things stand, your patch is unnecessary at best.
I'm taking this off the bug report, because it's in no way related to
