Package: kernel-source-2.6.6
Version: 2.6.6-2

When I try to power off my PC using the 2.6.6 kernel (but this applies =
to all the 2.6 kernels) the message "acpi_poweroff called" is displayed =
but it doesn't shutdown. On some occasions the monitor will go blank but =
the monitor wont have powered down although not always as somethimes the =
kernel messages are left being displayed. It sounds like the hard disks =
spin down but the fans carry on. This problem has only started since =
upgrading to the Sarge install as I used to use the 2.4 kernel that came =
with Woody and that worked fine so when I installed sarge and got this =
problem so I tried to build a kernel (2.6.6 as it was the newest) with =
the patch mentioned below but that hasn't fixed the problem.

The motherboard is the Asus A7S333 (SIS 745 Chipset)

I have found the kernel bugzilla (1141) report which has closed but the =
fix doesn't seem to have been used in the main kernel and the patch =
suggested doesn't seem to work for the 2.6.6 kernel as it still affects =
my machine the link below shows the Kernel bug tracker report.

Thanks

I compiled a new kernel using the 2.6.8 source but the system didn't =
halt (normal symptoms). After that the motherboard must have become =
faulty because it wouldn't start up again. I have replaced the =
motherboard using an Abit KV7 and that shuts down flawlessly. Without =
the hardware to test I am going to close the fault.

Regards & Thanks
Dave Taylor
