System Bell Sounds when Receiving Mail

Everytime I receive an e-mail with kmail, the system bell sounds in
addition to the mail notification wav file.

I have "Use system bell instead of system notification" disabled in
the sound settings.

Even if I disable all system notifications for kmail I hear the beep.

I am running KDE 3.5.1.
