Nevertheless it should be possible to turn off.

At home I use my laptop all the time. I find the touchpad quite convinient 
actually. With edge dragging enabled it is just as good as a mouse for 
regular work. It has problems with accuracy in graphics applications of 
course.

I looked but couldn't find any. I looked through the accessability settings in 
KControl, and browsing behaviour in Konqueror.
