Is your user member of the audio group?

from mount(8):
       uid=value, gid=value and umask=value
              Set the file permission on the filesystem. The umask value is
              given in octal. By default, the files are owned by root and not
              readable by somebody else.

So same as for vfat. I have an ntfs fstab entry with the following options:
noauto,user,uid=0,gid=100,umask=002
and I can read files from that mount point just fine :)
