No, if you're using a samba version higher than in woody and lower than in 
unstable you need to care about security issues only. Just in some general 
circumstances the performance gain of a newer samba may be important to you 
(I still don't know why the samba maintainer used a samba alpha snapshot in 
unstable...)

Mind that the packages on http://download.kde.org have all recent KDE security 
issues fixed. So if you can do it you should update to 3.1.1a on 
download.kde.org via apt-get.
