Do you run kdm?

Maybe kdm thought that "/" was it's home directory. kdm wants to create .qt,
.kde, etc in it's home directory. It would be really nice if kdm could be
changed to think it's home directory was something under /var to make a
distinction between the root user and kde daemons running as root.
