sound install problems on an iMac
Hello
I try to install sound support on my iMac. Therefore I activated via modconf
dmasound_pmac.
rowe:/# lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
macserial 39364 0 (autoclean)
lp 7936 0 (autoclean)
parport 30624 0 (autoclean) [lp]
dmasound_pmac 47144 0
i2c-core 14776 0 [dmasound_pmac]
dmasound_core 13640 0 [dmasound_pmac]
soundcore 4840 3 [dmasound_core]
printer 6768 0
ipv6 166996 -1
rtc 1792 0 (autoclean)
Then I started KDE 2.2.2, but after the login I get the following error
message:
Error while initializing the sound driver SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT faild - Invalid
argument. The sound driver will continue using the null output device.
I have found a further hint in the archives (Suse,Debian), that said, that I
have to modify the file modules.conf, putting into the file
/etc/modutils/sound the following entries:
(suse-archiv)
alias char-major-14 dmasound_pmac
alias sound dmasound_pmac
alias midi dmasound_pmac
alias sound-service-0-3 dmasound_pmac
(debian- and suse-archive)
alias sound-slot-0 dmasound_pmac
alias sound-service-0-0 dmasound_pmac
But I cannot found the /etc/modutils/sound file:
rowe:/etc/modutils# ls
0keep actions aliases arch paths ppp setserial
Do I have to create the sound file in modutils?
Thanks for all the help I will get.
