Lots of kde coders use debian. I think we all worked together on fixing build 
and configure bugs. It's the everyday thing while doing development because 
you have to recompile the world periodically. I can claim that it is very 
straightforward to install KDE3 on a GNU/Linux system right now. It isn't 
rocket science.
