thanks for the answer

So any plans from core kde maintainers to depend on gcc >> 3.0 on platforms 
like hppa or alpha where gcc 2.95 is either buggy or non existent ? or do we 
wait for 3.1 ?

On alpha I have the CXXFLAGS set to -O0 -mieee to compile kreatecd otherwise 
it won't compile with 2.95.
