Whoops!  I just exited and re-started KDE, and it seems like those two 
programs mentioned above are about the ONLY ones that have Icons now. 
The task-bar is completely bare, except for the mozilla icon. :(
Have to hurry... got to get my foot out of my mouth so I can eat some 
crow....
