Maybe re-edit sources.list so that both testing and unstable are
available...
you can then do:
apt-get --reinstall install <package>/testing
if something in unstable is too badly broken for you
(once in the last 4 months on this system, ymmv).
also...
If you setup pinning to prefer testing, you will want to fetch
packages from unstable periodically (e.g., security upgrades).
