Add apps to the K menu

How do I add an app to the K menu system? I was under the misimpression that
the   menu    system and KDE worked hand-in-hand, but this is not the case.
I've added the apps I use all the time into BlackBox by adding them to
/etc/menu, but this has yet to affect KDE.

	I'm running UNSTABLE Debian.
