You'll note I said a charity or SORBS nominated good cause, that is not the same as SORBS nominated charity or good cause.

ie you cannot choose your own good cause unless it is from the SORBS good causes lists. If you want to pay to your favorite government registered charity, and SORBS can confirm the receipt is not a fake, then you can pay to them.
