Re: Too Many Files Open Error
Thanks for all the suggestions. The system in question is our primary mail
server which, until we added a domain acquired from a soon-to-be-defunct
local ISP to the 42 we already owned, had little problem with such issues.
The domain we added, according to the current mail.log file (during the past
27 hours) has had 280,000 spam messages for the acquired domain -- which has
but one valid address besides postmaster and admin -- using 43,000+ bogus
addresses. The remaining domains that we host have only had just over 2000
bogus email messages.
Now, can anyone suggest how to better control the bogus messages for this
new domain? Unfortunately, we have not yet added the new clients' email
domain to our server. There will only be a few dozen new clients, but we
don't know exactly how this domain will affect the situation. Plus there are
other domains we need to gain control of which use the problem domain for
the administrative contact email address. I suppose we could do away with
mail for that domain once we gain control over the final few domain names.
