Re: [translate-pootle] gettext with non-en source language
If you mean that you can save the PO file as a text in UTF-8, and the msgid are a language than English, you can write a program in Spanish, Portuguese and so and Pootle will show the corresponding msgid in that language and the translator could translate other language like Nahuatl, Maya or others?
And what about if you have a program written in English, like Gnumeric, where I want to translate with non-english speakers?
Could Pootle show an already existing translation like Spanish (even one or both laguages in the front end page), to help that peaple to find a knew language to work on in the translation?

So far I've never had a problem with this. The most important project
I've seen that has the original language in Portuguese is Gnuteca (a
library management system).
