Hi Marcus,
I maintain the Bochs packages in Debian and have tested them on GNU
some times. After adding cdrom support:

(yes, i know it's weird but this is how their code wanted it)
the only problem is that it can't boot CDs, anyone can try that with
latest version?
note: sb16ctrl might fail to build on GNU, i don't know how linux-specific
is it.
