Coordination with esware
Hello,
A friend of mine is currently working at esware and is involved on the
packing of gnome.
They want gnome2.2 on sarge, and since it didn't get there yet, he
was doing the packing from scratch.
So I said: hey, why don't you use the official sid's packing and compile
on sarge?, the maintainers should be glad to get bug-fixes and
improvements. He did so and everything is working now, good job guys.
He mentioned that they tried to coordinate with "Debian" before and it
didn't work. I don't really know what they did back then, but I think
that, properly handled, some coordination would be a win for everyone.
I told him to follow this rules, but I would like to check with you:
- If you have problems because you use sarge keep them for yourself.
- Or maybe comment politely?
- If you fix something, contribute it.
- Coordinate package versioning with Debian, I proposed something like:
upstream-0.XYesw
So they would be replaced with official Debian packages when they get
to sarge.
- If you package a newer version of something than is currently in sid
and it works right, let them know.
Trying to do something useful

PS: I am in no way pretending to start a flame war here, if you feel
like that, "spam" me directly, not the list, and I'll post a resume.
