Bug#314350: libc6: sysconf(_SC_HOST_NAME_MAX) always returns -1
Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.2.ds1-22
Severity: important
sysconf(_SC_HOST_NAME_MAX) always returns -1, rather than the maximum
host name length (as documented in sysconf(3)). This also been
reported elsewhere:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=130733
It's not clear from the report exactly which version of glibc fixes
this, but it's still broken in Debian glibc.
HOST_NAME_MAX is also undefined, meaning you can't determine the
value at compile-time either.
Regards,
Roger
