je n'utilise pas xv, et un essai de conversion bmp->ppm
avec bmptoppm s'étant révélé infructueux,

j'ai utilisé convert [package imagemagick],
{samuel@zoenyx : /tmp }$ convert image.bmp image.xpm
{samuel@zoenyx : /tmp }$ file image.xpm
image.xpm: X pixmap image text
et ça marche bien
peut-être que pour certaines images bmp "pas très propres",
vu qu'ici il ne s'agit pas d'une image 24 bit,
(hum les "standards" flottants de M$ :^)
la conversion vers xpm _via_ netpmb se passe mal et que c'est pour ça
que xlock ne le reconnait pas?...
autre hypothèse:tu as oublié d'installer la libxpm, mais ça m'étonnerait
