Hey,
I guess I have found the reason why this fails: The certificate is missing in
the chroot. After copying /etc/ldap/ssl/ldap-server-pubkey.pem to the chroot on
the ltsp-server (/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/ldap/ssl/), things seem to work.
I increased priority to P2; it would be great to have this fixed in edu1
because I consider it as an important feature which should work out of the box.
