hey everyone, (please continue to cc me) yet another itch i've been wanting to scratch for a while... having debconf support in dpkg. i've made a proof of concept, the patches for which i'll be posting to this thread shortly. there are still some open questions and issues with the implementation (which i've documented in a temporary TODO.debconf in the diff), but overall it's a fairly simple and straightforward approach which increases the LoC in the c code by less than 50 lines. the basic concept is to attempt to use a debconf interface for said conflicts, and if there is any problem it falls back to the good old terminal based one. i'll also keep these changes live in my own public_git repo, though the branch (just like the conffile handling one) should be considered a topic branch and will likely be rebased and/or otherwise mucked with so standard warning there. sean screenshot: http://people.debian.org/~seanius/img/dpkg-debconf.png http://git.debian.org/?p=users/seanius/dpkg.git/.git;a=blob_plain;f=TODO.debconf;hb=debconf-fun http://git.debian.org/?p=users/seanius/dpkg.git/.git;a=summary
