tmux breaks compatibility every a short while, this is one of reasons¹
people tend to prefer screen. So if you can manage making the transition
seamless, we'll love you a whole lot more.
[¹]. The other reason is tmux having some dubious default config choices
(it's configurable, though). On the other hand, tmux has better handling of
finer Unicode points.
