Maybe check the paths in pet.conf?

Yup, but I haven't looked further, since the fundamental question is
still open, TTBOMK: PET needs a cache that's written by the vcs
post-commit hook (i.e. on vasks) [and a cronjob] and that's read by
the cgi (i.e. on wagner).
