Ron Lee (the current wxwidgets2.6 maintainer) is, AFAICT interested in packaging wxwidgets2.8. However, he wants to do it right. Rushing out and packaging a library right away that has a proven track record for stability problems, especially in new releases, is IMHO not the best way to go. I would have to agree with and support Ron on this. Perhaps you would be interested in joining the team? Some preliminary work has already been done by Ron. At some point he emailed the location of the source repository for the work that has been done already. Perhaps Ron can send the link again for those who are interested in helping?
