I thought it was also mentioned in the examples. In all cases, you can
adapt the NFS scripts for samba, or find such scripts on Google.

It is compatible with most GNOME applications and with OOo (with
openoffice.org-gnomevfs). That's less applications than with an
automounter, but it will handle authenticated access.
