Could have something to do with the fact that all involved persons were at 
Debconf and could effectively communicate together...
Could also have something to do with the high visibility of this upload 
and the fact that parties involved would like to announce the 
availability of Sun Java in Debian...

Could have something to do with the person normally doing NEW processing 
having a rather important role in the organization of Debconf leaving him 
no time to do his regular NEW processing...


Be glad that NEW processing in general is so much improved over the last 
year and allow for special circumstances at some times.

If you really have urgent reasons to get a package into new, the best 
action is probably to send a mail to debian-release and to present these 
reasons.
