Better yet: Warn if
  (there are CVS directories in the .diff.gz)
  OR ((there are CVS directories in the .orig.tar.gz)
      AND (the .orig.tar.gz unpacks into packagename-version.orig/))

If one has reason to repackage the source archive, one may as well get
rid of cruft such as CVS directories.
